Art in the Park

Entry Rules and Application

When: Wednesday, July 4, 2013

Where: Sheldon Park, Ocean Park, WA

Hours: 10am to 4pm

The purpose of the Art in the Park event is to provide an opportunity for all Long Beach Peninsula Artists & Local Artistic Guilds with members in our area (i.e. Clatsop County Spinners and Weavers) to participate and to give the public an opportunity to experience the richness, variety, and unique qualities of arts/fiber arts excellence from local artisans. Art in the Park is NOT a flea market, rummage sale, farmer’s market or food court.

STANDARDS OF ACCEPTANCE: All items must be handcrafted and are subject to review by the review committee and:

A. Must be the work of a Long Beach Peninsula resident or by a member of a local participating guild.

B. Must belong to one or more of the following categories:

  • woven or any interlacing technique
  • basketry
  • knitting
  • crochet
  • knitting and lace stitchery
  • felting
  • paper (handmade or constructed)
  • dyed or painted fabrics
  • piecing or appliqué
  • spinning
  • fiber manipulation
  • bead weaving or manipulation (no just strung beads)
  • painted, drawn, sketched in any medium
  • mixed media collage
  • Art or fiber art related books, cards, calendars, note paper, and videos written or created by participating artists/fiber artists.
  • purchased  materials, the appearance of which has been significantly altered by dyeing, piecing and/or embroidering or used in the creation of quilts, aprons, and other items of clothing or home décor
  • Sculptured wood, metal, clay, glass, etc.
  • Jewelry
  • Photography

C. Must be the responsibility of the artist in design and execution.

D. Must possess the following characteristics:

  • be finished, clean and pressed if appropriate
  • be new and not worn or used
  • have no odor other than that inherent to the materials
  • be constructed to last for the appropriate use of the object
  • be safe for the intended use

E. Must NOT be commercial kits, imports, purchased baskets, wreaths, wooden boxes, t-shirts or sweatshirts unless they have been significantly altered by the artist  to become a one of a kind piece of art.

The review committee will be available by appointment, each Sunday in May from 4pm to 5:30pm at Tapestry Rose Yarn Shop or Full Circle Café. Please call the committee chairperson, Colleen Smith, to set up your appointment at 360-665-5385. It would be very helpful if you call after 3pm because before 3pm we are serving lunch. You may bring a sample of your items or portfolio in for review during your appointment time along with your completed application and fee.

The fee is $25 per space, payable in cash or check made out to “Art in the Park” at time of application. Each space is 10’ deep x 10’ wide. Set up is at 8am the morning of the event. You will be responsible for providing your own table, chairs, and/or tent.  All boxes and containers MUST be kept out of site (i.e. Under display tables and behind curtains, behind tent etc.)  There will be no electricity or water provided. Portable toilets are available. You are also expected to take all garbage and debris in your area with you when you leave.

Art in the Park is not responsible for any loss, alteration or damage to any item.


Release of Liability: As a vendor, I understand that the Art in the Park will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged materials and/or merchandise of mine at this event. I hereby release the Art in the Park and all is members from any and all liability whatsoever from any injury or damage as a result of my participation in the Art in the Park.
